Meet the Team

  • *Note: Mr. Brian Jones is a satellite math teacher, teaching one 5th-grade class and one 6th-grade class. 


    Deborah Sloan - Science (6/8)

    Mrs. Sloan is teaching 6th-grade/8th -grade Science. She is originally from Memphis, Tennessee, where she met her husband, Ron. She has taught 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th grades in Tennessee, Texas, and Kentucky. She has been teaching at Anchorage School since 2016. In her free time, she enjoys painting, exploring new restaurants, and traveling.

    Amanda Weyhing - Social Studies (6/7)

    I am excited about starting my 11th year of teaching this coming school year. I began my career teaching high school in Fayette County for two years and, for the last seven years, I have been at North Oldham Middle School. I love all things history and reading.  In my free time, I love exploring parks with my two dogs and spending as much time as possible with my two nieces. I have a small craft business and love to crochet, cross stitch, use my Cricut, and sew.  I am a huge Minnesota Vikings and UofL fan! I also love traveling, Broadway musicals, Mexican food, and jigsaw puzzles. 



    Brian Jones - Math (6)

    Mr. Jones began teaching in 2001, and his first year at Anchorage was 2020. He has 10+ years of experience in a 5th grade classroom. He grew up in Somerset, KY and spent many summers with family and friends on Lake Cumberland.  Some of his hobbies now include racing go-karts, softball, and volleyball.

    Judy Lamoreux - Math (6/7/8)

    Mrs. Lamoreux is entering her 23rd year in education and is certified in 7th - 12th grade math. She has lived in California, Texas, Ohio, and Japan and enjoys gardening, traveling, watching football, and playing with her grandchildren. Mrs. Lamoreux just recently traveled with former Anchorage students to Costa Rica over the summer!  It was amazing!  She is the co-advisor to the MS Community Connections.

    Amy Cheyne - ELA (6/7)

    Ms. Fisher started her teaching career in 2005. Before joining the Anchorage team in 2017, she taught at North Oldham Middle School. Ms. Fisher loves her fur children (2 cats and 2 dogs), and she and her partner, Andrew, have a son together! In addition to spending time with the animals, she is a HUGE UK FAN! GO CATS! But also enjoys being on the water (beach, lake, it doesn’t matter!), Broadway shows, fiddling with technology, reality TV, Coke, reading her favorite genres: dystopian and realistic fiction, and knitting.

    Kristy Crouch - ELA (7/8)

    Mrs. Crouch is our 8th-grade writing teacher. She is married to Gordon, and they have two boys, Jameson and Graeme. Professionally, she is a nationally-board-certified teacher who holds an undergraduate degree from Eastern Kentucky University, and two master's degrees from Western Kentucky University and from Southern Seminary University -- both in education. Most recently completed her Education Specialist degree from the University of Louisville in Instructional Leadership.

    She has been at APS since 2018 and is beginning her 21st year of teaching. In her free time, she loves to spend time with her family, including her husband, boys, and nieces and nephew who live close by as well as travel, hike, work on her novel, watch HGTV, meet friends for coffee, and get outside as much as possible.

    Beth Nally - Math (6/7/8)

    I was born and raised in the beautiful Catskill Mountains of New York.  I have a Bachelor's in Secondary Education: Mathematics from the State University of New York at New Paltz and a Master's in Literacy from the University of the Cumberlands.  My teaching experience includes 10+ years, both public and private; NY, IN, KY, middle and high school.  I keep busy with four girls ages 8-25.  I am thrilled to be at Anchorage Public School and look forward to settling down here. 



    Vicky Johnston - Science (7)

    Ms. Johnston is starting her 3rd year teaching 7th and 8th Grade Science at Anchorage. Before Anchorage, Ms. Johnston taught Robotics at Meyzeek Middle School in JCPS for 13 years and taught 6th Grade Science in Raleigh, North Carolina for 5 years. She is a born and raised Hoosier, living in Jeffersonville, IN; but cheers for the U of L Cards. Ms. Johnston spends as much time as possible in nature, she loves to take her daughter on hikes and to the park. In addition to spending time with family, she enjoys traveling, reading, and watching a good movie or tv show. Ms. Johnston’s goal is for all students to become independent thinkers and problem solvers. “How can we fix this or make it work?”

    Ben VanKlompenberg - Social Studies (7/8)

    Mr. VanKlompenberg (VK) began teaching in 2009. Six years were at the high school level in Houston, Texas. He joined the Anchorage Team in 2015. Mr. VK was born and raised in Michigan and earned his undergraduate degree in Social Studies teaching at Grand Valley State University. He earned a Master’s degree at the University of Houston Clear Lake in Educational Leadership. Mr. VK loves to be outside and spend time with his growing family.



    Carey Wilson - Spanish (6/7/8)

    Señora Wilson, originally from Appalachia, followed her love of language to Spain, where she lived and worked for a year in Madrid, and then to the University of Louisville to acquire a Master's to teach Spanish.
    I have taught in Anchorage since 2013 and love the challenge and fun spirit of the middle school age. My husband and I currently hail from The Highlands and have one daughter, Franki Sol.


    Jennifer Fannin - ECE

    Ms. Fannin started her teaching career in 2009. She joined the Anchorage team in 2021, having previously taught at North Oldham Middle School. Ms. Fannin enjoys reading, traveling, and spending time with her family.

    Steve Stewart - ECE

    I’ve been at Anchorage since 2013. One year was spent serving as an Instructional Assistant before transitioning into a full-time teaching position. I’ve enjoyed my time at Anchorage thus far and look forward to many more years of helping students develop into the best version of themselves they can be. In my free time, I enjoy watching college football and doing community service.
