  • Karen Solise, Superintendent

Mrs. Solise's academic journey commenced at Western Kentucky University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Education. Continuing her pursuit of knowledge, she later achieved a Master of Arts in Education from the same institution. Fueling her dedication to educational leadership, she obtained her Rank I in Education from Indiana Wesleyan and a second Master's in School Leadership from Murray State University. Most recently, she completed Superintendent Certification through Murray State University, a testament to her commitment to professional growth.

Community involvement remains at the core of Mrs. Solise's values. For over 25 years, she has dedicated her time and energy to the Madisonville Chrysalis Community and the Great Banquet Community, engaging in transformative weekends that require meticulous preparation and selfless service. Additionally, she actively participates in a local leadership group, immersing herself in the community and collaborating with fellow professionals on projects that give back and foster positive change.

Mrs. Solise holds a rich personal history, having been happily married to her husband, Preston, for an impressive 35 years. They have two grown-up sons together, now embarked on their own paths. When it comes to vacations, Mrs. Solise and her husband find solace in beach getaways, favoring the warm shores of Southern Alabama, Florida, or the Caribbean. In between beach vacations, they cherish moments spent on their fishing boat, indulging in the serene tranquility of the lake.

    Kelly Haile, Interim Principal

Our interim principal, Kelly Haile, began her career in 1991 as a middle school English/Language Arts teacher. Before putting down an anchor at Anchorage Public School, she wore many hats - middle school English/Language Arts teacher, resource teacher, instructional coach, building assessment coordinator, special programs coordinator, and assistant principal - working with the students and staff of Henderson County Schools and Jefferson County Public Schools.  Joining the team at Anchorage in 2019 and becoming a part of the rich history of this school district is more than a job to Kelly - it is an honor.

Kelly has found Anchorage students to be enthusiastic learners, their parents to be deeply invested in their children’s education, and the Anchorage community to be welcoming and generous.  Collaborating with the exemplary teachers, support staff, and leadership team at Anchorage makes this “job” a JOY for her.

Kelly is married to her high school sweetheart and has two sons; this family is her greatest blessing. She enjoys spending time with friends, attending sporting events, reading books, listening to podcasts, and exploring - near and far.  Adventures are consistently recorded with a camera or journal.  It is highly unlikely to catch Kelly without a pen and paper nearby … ready to make a list or plan of action!

    Bart Roettger, Assistant Principal

Assistant Principal, Bart Roettger, began his career in education in 1999 as a 6th-grade teacher at Blackburn Elementary School in Hickory, NC. During his 24-year career, Mr. Roettger has worked his entire career in grades 5 - 9 as an instructional leader, administrator, and coach. After helping lead Dunbar High School to the 2008 State Baseball Championship over Shelby County High School, Mr. Roettger was named Head Baseball Coach at SCHS weeks later.  During his time in Shelby County, Mr. Roettger taught Algebra and served in many leadership roles until he was named Assistant Principal at Shelby County East Middle School in 2016. Since 2018, Mr. Roettger has served as an assistant principal at Shelby County High School.

Mr. Roettger loves helping students find their niche within the school community.  When he is not supporting his students as they excel in their extra-curricular activities, he can be found rooting on or coaching his own two sons in their various endeavors.  Many of which include fellow Anchors!

Mr. Roettger is married and has two sons (13,9).  They are also the proud owner of a fun fluffy dog named Louie.   When he is not spending time with his family, Mr. Roettger can be found working in his yard, going to sporting events, and trying to make it to the lake with whatever free time he has left!
